i had this problem for about a year, never bothered looking into fixing it until yesterday. it takes about 3 minutes so it's really simple. heres a vid if you have a similar problem. i also have a video showing exactly what i mean by a scratchy wah pedal, and what it sounds like after cleaning the pot.

The most common problem with wahs indeed, a crappy pot. You can change it but if you don't know how to just let a mech look at it. Then again it's something that only happened to me with low-price crap wah's. Also be carefull with the pot if you have to resolder a new one. If it gets too hot you'll mess it up again.

where is the waste. spraying WD-40 is the exact same method.
