I have a really hard physics test tommorow that I need to get a high A on, and I don't know if I should pull an all nighter or not. Some say it works, some say it doesn't, but I've never tried it. Any suggestions?

No, don't be an idiot, your brain needs sleep to perform properly. A good night's sleep is about a million times better than last minute cramming.

you need to make a poll. and I don't know, it might work, might not.

If you stay up all night, you'll be dead tired and be fuzzy headed and have trouble thinking clearly.

On the other hand, if you cram all night and really study hard, it might stick in your head long enough for the test.

I tend to think that a good night's sleep would be better, you'll be able to think clearer and be less likely to just zone out and stare at the paper. I say study a lot before bed, but go to bed at a decent time. Then wake up and if you have a chance to study more before the test do so.
#12
It doesn't work unless you have a VERY good short term memory - you need to take in information about 24 hours before so that your brain puts the info into your long-term memory.

get a good study and a good nights sleep. if not u will sleep during the test
#19
Study right before you sleep. Then wake up at around 3 or 4, study for half an hour, then go back to sleep.
My biology teacher claimed that studying in the middle of the night helped him alot in college O_o
And get a lot of sleep so you're not falling asleep during the test and writing down stupid things.

If you're in high school God no.
If you're in college probably not.

Losing one night of sleep doesn't severely effect your ability to think.
If you can function well without much sleep, meaning you won't fall asleep or let your mind wander, then do it. If you prefer to be well-rested, then sleep.

It depends on when the test is, actually. If you have a hard time getting up in the morning and going to bed early, and the test is at like 8:00 in the morning, go for it. I had three 8:00 finals last spring and went nocturnal; best decision I ever made. If it's not hard to get up in time for it, then sleep, and make sure you get up early enough to be fully alert.

I would say no, doing tests while sleepy only makes you rush it.

No. When you sleep, your brain files the information that you've taken in. If anything, go to bed earlier. That way the info you do have will be easier to remember and will take off some of the stress you'll feel. All night studying is a complete waste of time.

yup because when you awaken your focus is greater. doesnt feel like it, but every little thing that you do after you wake up basically is magnified in your memory because you just started a clean slate mentally. falling asleep again lets it rest in your mind for a while so when you wake up again you can try to recall what you can and add on to it again

This is a point. It's much easier to stay awake if you don't have any sleep at all.

that sounds like a good idea, it's like re-reading everything twice but you already had time to think about it before so it's not just cramming it into your head.

heres what you do:

study until 5:00 in the morning, then sleep 2 hours and you'll have enough energy to take the test with decent grades(thats where the studying comes in), but you'll feel like **** the rest of the day.
but there are always solutions to that: coffee, energy drinks, cocaine

Studying has never worked for me.
