Like I've never heard that before... I also saw another test today (on a Norwegian website), where apparently Chrome and the Windows version of Safari actually had more security failures than IE. Firefox and Opera are about equally good, and came out as the best browsers in the test.

Should it not be the other way round?

Gosh dang it. I told my freakin parents. I installed Firefox, and basked in it's ninetales-look-a-likey glory, knowing I was superior to those still using IE. But my parents wouldn't use it, and then when the PC went a bit skits, and slowed itself down massively, they blame it on anything that wasn't there when we got the PC. So guess what was uninstalled? Psha. This'll show em.

well, let's just say it

microsoft screw up again!
If I could I would uninstall ie but for some reason, that's not possible
every time I remove it it comes back upon next restart

ah well, they won't get me
#21
I don't understand why this is newsworthy, it happens all the time and microsoft release updates for their holes every month or sooner if it's REALLY bad.

I think it's because they got a quote from that Trend Micro guy saying that they are advising changing your browser (the ffckking panic-mongering tool).

And considering Trend Micro AV throws up more false positives than any other AV in my experience and if you do get infected by a virus while running TM, you have to manually remove the infection.

Maybe this'll learn Microsoft to properly code and test stuff before releasing it.

And maybe pigs will fly.

Good. People who use IE deserve to be punished and hopefully this will get more people onto Mozilla.

I've gone back to using IE for the last few weeks. I've been ok. :/
( Well, that's what I think. )

Firefox was great but it closed everytime I used a Java app. in it. Opera and Safari are ok.
I'm not changing anymore.

I have all my passwords saved in Firefox, and if I end up looking at porn, it's with IE, so I can just delete browsing history etc. I run AVG and Ad-Aware scans nightly, though.

You use the less secure browser to browse the sites that are notorious for spyware and other browser intrusions?

Smooth.

Haven't had any problems. If you know how to run a computer, spyware/viruses can't touch you.

Anyone who's clueless enough to use IE deserves whatever problems they get on their computers.

...wow...such hard fail...

Seriously, Microsoft hasn't released a product that works as well as they say since forever, I'm in no way shocked.

I'm not saying IE is secure at all; I'm saying that if you know what you're doing, and I do, it doesn't matter. My computer, a Dell XPS m1530 with Vista Home Premium, hasn't BSOD'd, crashed, or anything of that nature, and I've had it for almost a year.

I work in a computer repair shop and I assure you; all of the customers think they know what they're doing. Until I have to spend 4 hours running virus checks, trying to fix it and the coming to the conclusion that it's fucked and restoring it to factory settings.

Lol, I'm studying Computer Programming and I've been a computer geek almost my whole life. Besides, restoring to factory settings/wiping the harddrive isn't a terrible idea every now and then.
