Title says it all chaps, I made a thread the other week but my budget has gone up since then.

I'm after a SYL esque tone, very heavy indeed. It needs to be a combo of some variety and be able to reach volumes high enough for smallish gigs.

Any ideas let me know, cheers!

Yeah I've got a buyer for my DSL50 H/s for £500 on the 23rd of this month, not gainy enough for me tbh.

I'm looking for a tone similar to All Hail the New Flesh which is from the City album I think?

Having real problems finding a 5150 combo 2nd hand and bugera have reliability issues I hear. Any other ideas?

yeah try a bugera 6505 (i think check site)

Haha you have to pick the only album I do not own..

I'm not quite sure what that album sounds like, but, if it's close to Alien, I'm sure a 5150 might get you close enough..

If you're patient enough, you'll find a combo going on ebay for cheap...

I'm not sure if it'll get you a 100% match in sound, but a 5150 should be able to do it.

That's what he used for Alien I think, was quite an expensive set up.

I see, cheers!

Planning on getting a couple of boss pedals for the echo's/delays etc.

I'm sure if he used a 5150 on earlier albums it'll get me a whole lot closer than a Marshall DSL50 will haha.

Cheers dude.

Randall RG50TC is good as well.

I'm not sure if he's ever used a 5150 for SYL, so check one out, play it and see if you like the tone... It'd be a great metal amp either way!

there's a few videos documenting the making of Alien on youtube, and I swear he gives a run down of equipment used, so check those out too!

You're going to have a hell of a time trying to find a high gain combo in that pricerange.

You'd be better off with a head.

Yeah I agree... But sometimes they do surface every now and then!

ENGL Thunder is a decent amp aswell!

Here's a Peavey 5150 block letter head, that is if you're patient enough to wait a little while longer to get a cab?
I've seen 2x12's go fairly cheap on ebay!

Some choices would be used Peavey 5150/6505, Randall RG50TC, B-52 AT112, Bugeras are hit or miss amps. Go out and try some amps first and figure out which ones sound you like.
#15
UK? Ok, well... used 6505 would be good. Also, you could get a laney GH50l with a cab (perhaps not the laney cab) for not much more than £500. Or as mentioned the Bugera's.

But never stop checking ebay, i got my F-100 in a flightcase for £500

Would it be worth checking out a peavey valveking?

Your DSL is better than that.

I just bought a Bugera 6260
It can compare to the Peavy 6505 tone-wise

Sure the 6505 is nice.
Yes it's better in terms of quality.
But costing the 3 times more.. eh
I'd rather tighten some screws and clippings on a Bugera

And my Bugera only costing $300 brand new?
It's a steal.

But if you really have the cash to blow.
Get the 6505.
It was on sale to for $900 at my local shop
