K so i can get almost any guitar I want for christmas. i really like the american fender strats but i cant find the right one. les pauls kick ass but there not for me. i know this kid who has a strat and its a custom built is undescribible, the tone that is. it has this jimi hendrix stevie ray vaughn sound and when i play it i sound like 10 ttimes as better than on any other guitar. but when i go to the guitar store to try and find the same sound. they dont have it. any sugestions

Most of the sound will be defined by the amp.

My suggestion find the same amp he has and check out his settings then you should be able to get the same tone he has

If you are using the same amp and pedal set-up, then it is probably the pickups. I'd guess that it has Texas Specials (SRV) or maybe EMGs like the Gillmore signature.

I know its not the amp cuz even if i play it unplugged i still get that kinky tone
