Budget of upto $250 AUS, for boosting a Blackheart Little Giant. I don't play br00tals but im looking for a nice overdrive to give me a 70's heavy metal tone. Im almost certain that I can get much better tones rather than my current Boss DS-1.

I know they use Laney's but i'd love a similar tone to around 4:50

Im fully aware that my amp can't get the exact tone, im looking for a similar tone.

Anyway im thinking:

MXR Custom Overdrive
MXR Zakk Wylde Overdrive
EH Metal Muff (but this seems like this is differently voiced)

Recs wanted. Thank you.

MXR ZW Overdrive is basically a BOSS SD1 with Zakk's name on it.

The Metal Muff is a great pedal for metal tones.

But, from what I heard the MM was slightly fizzy and modern sounding. I'll watch some youtube clips tomorrow.

the zw-44 is heavy overdrive not like a regular tubescreamer type it has no mid hump. it sounds really good and heavy with my EPI VJ with a bad monkey behind it as a clean boost.
