Im not so sure... I recommend a superstrat, Ibanez makes a lot of those.

Well, for shred you're probably going to want 24 frets; 't is just great. Also, the necks on Ibanez super strats (RG's or S's) are usually a bit thinner that regular, which a lot of people like. This is primarily an opinion issue, though.

I'd suggest trying a lot of guitars before you by. Who knows, you might buy the ART, and somewhere along the road play an RG and go "damn, this is nice".

the necks on the art and arx are a bit thicker than the rg's. if that is a prob then... i shred so to speak on a epi ultra and also the rg.

i have heard the art's are good for the money.

Could not agree more. If you like the neck that is. The pups could use upgrading at some point but it's not a must right away. The same goes for most guitars in that price range.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.
