Simple awnser. Yes, if you want to hear it at all. I think preamps have a roughly 1 watt output, to make it simpler for reading the poweramps coorrect for certain cabs.

yes you can. if your gonna use the digitech for all your effects and distortion though, i'd plug into the CD/MP3 input jack. if you do this, your basically plugging into a power amp and a speaker
