Me and my buddies are doing this small show for a thing at school. We need a few metal songs that are somewhat well known and playable by intermediate musicians. We want to go pretty heavy with it, so the more brutal the better. We're going to play in front of our whole school, so I want it to be good.
Any ideas?

Slayer, Metallica, Exodus, Sodom, Death...
All easy to play.

Play anything you want, and don't even worry about how well you play it. If your school is like every other, people will just ignore you if you play metal, so just play some Anal C*nt and piss everyone off.

I wasn't posting the most metal or brutal bands. I simply rattled off a few bands that have for the most part fairly easy songs.

You want an intermediate guitarist to play Lamb of God?

Metallica, Death, Vintersorg, Graveworm, Bloodbath, all groovy/catchy and easy to play.

Megadeth - Symphony Of Destruction
Metallica - Seek & Destroy
Pantera - Walk

Those are well known crowd pleasers.

As for brutal:
Carcass - Heartwork
Entombed - Drowned
Usurper - Kill For Metal

Creeping Death - Metallica

Of course some idiot would suggest metallica. What self-respecting metal fan likes them?

Well it'd probably need to be a "sung" song and not screaming etc. Simply for the fact that no one wants to hear a bunch of noise. As said, Metallica, Iron Maiden, new bands like Skillet, Nightwish etc, all great choruses and pretty heavy. Think of it as an opportunity to get people into heavier music and see that it isn't all just mindless noise, instead of overproving that it is.

Who says I'm a troll? I'll take it with a grain of sand, as your taste in music makes anything you say invalid.

Also, can I make the suggestion of Entropy Within by Anata?

Yes I know, not in comparion to their older stuff.

I take back Heartwork and put forward Hate Eternal - Dogma Condemned. Better now?

even though it's not considered "metal" by the forum, I'd suggest a heavier Alice In Chains song a la We Die Young, Them Bones or Grind... they have a certain heaviness that could be considered metal by some. Of course, it is not "teh br00tulz," but they're great heavy rock songs nonetheless.

Also, maybe some Sabbath a la Hole In The Sky or Into The Void.

Other good contenders: Black Label Society, Sepultura/Soulfly and some of the other bands previously mentioned.
