Hey guys,

I've started guitar in march, when my dad gave me his old nylon acoustic. Having taken music for years now, but never really as a serious hobby, I could easily learn scales and songs. Once I got my cheap electric, I've progressed even further. In roughly nine months I've gone from learning power chords to practising Possum Goes to Prague by Blackmore's Night (see the video ).

What I want to ask you guys is (hopefully without sounding vain) is whether or not I'm progressing abnormally fast. I'm putting in a hour or two's practise most days.

Well depends on standard.

I see kids from 7 year old who can play complete piano concerto's by chopin. So fast is relative. IT all depends on how good u are as a songwriter.

Indeed, I sound pretty crap at the moment (I place pretty high standards, i hate wannabes who cant play yet insist on playing half-assed intros over and over). But I'm using a recording program to listen on my playing and improve where I'm going wrong.

Sorry for not making that clear, my bad.

I think I'll practise a bit more before I put up a really embarrasing vid .

LOl then why do u ask how ur progress is, if you don't lay out all ur cards on the table

In poker terms;

You say you have a royal flush, yet u don't show ur cards.

We can't judge without that

Hahah, yeah, I know, thanks for the wake up call.

I'll get right on that...thing is, if I can play the song decently, I get a new, decent guitar. Right now I'm stuck with the kind that parents buy for their kids at some department store on christmas eve, so it's pretty crap...
