I was just wondering what brands are reliable when it comes to practice amps(We don't have a drummer just yet, but I'm sure I'll want something that won't sound too bad at higher volumes).

1)Reliable Brands(I'll avoid Behringer, of course)?

2)How much should I be looking to spend?

3)Recommended wattage and size?

3)Would I be alright with a combo, or should I look into purchasing the components separately?

1) Ashdown!!!

2) It depends- are you looking for a pub gigging combo or a pro stack?

3) I'd recommend at least 300-350W and at least a 410.

4) I'd look into getting a head and cab- way easier to transport and far friendlier on the back.

1) Acoustic
2)400 or so
3) 200+
4) whichever, either way, you can stick it on wheels.

1) Reliable brands include: Ashdown, Acoustic, -->!!Carvin!!<--, MarkBass, Ampeg, Hartke, and Gallien-Krueger, but these are obviously not all the reliable brands out there.

2-4) What do you need it for?

Its all down to personnal preference. 300-500 watts would be acceptable. Anywere from 300 to a grand is what you should be willing to spend.
Yamaha TRB1006
Fender MIA jazz bass
Hora Hybrid double bass
Hartke lh 500
Ev 606L
Epiphone les paul

Ok I feel Jazz_Rock_Feel covered number one so,
2)250+
3) 200W at a minimum.
4)Combos are fine if its a good amp, but you just might want to bite the bullet and get head and cab now, I'd try for, maybe, an Acoustic B200H stack
