Major and Minor Pentatonic. Aeolian. Phrygian. Phrygian Dominant. stuff like that

What he said is the correct answer.. but to answer your question, Petrucci himself said that he likes to use the Phrygian Dominant scale in his solos.

TS: If you have to ask (and if you don't know how ridiculous a question it is), you simply don't have the knowledge required to play like he does.
Someones knowledge of guitar companies spelling determines what amps you can own. Really smart people can own things like Framus because they sound like they might be spelled with a "y" but they aren't.

Man, I'm sick of people searching for magic scales. This is like thinking you can cook a great cake if you just read the ingredients on the side of the packaging-you can't. The ingredients are the elements, but the way they're put together is what makes it taste so amazing. close this thread.
