I'm looking to buy a new amp with a tight, crisp sounding high end to create a gain with a bit of extra treble. I've been told I'm best to look at some Brtish brands like Laney or Vox, I'm thinking either a dual speaker solid state or a basic valve setup. Any ideas?

Head and Cab for $130? You don't need a head and cabinet, you need a psychological examination.

not sure about the exchange rate, but try out a Laney VC30 or a Vox AC30
Ibanez RG321MH (Air Classic/Tone Zone)
Fernandes Telecaster (Twang King/stock bridge pickup)
Blackstar HT-20 (Scumback 55 speaker/ Tung Sol tubes)

Vox AC30, and if budget is not a problem, look into some Marshalls, such as the Plexi or JTM45
Peavey XXX combo *upgraded screen resistors, Tung-Sol's, and 6L6's*
Schecter Syn Std. * modded, scalloped, and worn*
Schecter C-1 Elite *still sexy*
Ibanez AEL 12-string
