Well it depends on what kind of metal your going to be playing.
Didn't Black Sabbath use Orange ?
So NWOBHM might be suited by an orange.
Hell if not you can always just get an overdrive.

What's-his-mask from Slipknot uses a Rockerverb 100.....

Anyways. Go with a rockerverb. As long as you have a good OD, an Orange should definately work for metal.

Tim McTague from Underoath used a Rocker 30 for a while. I don't know if he still uses it or not.

the thunderverb can put out some good metal but i would suggest getting a good OD

no it isnt.

rockverb can do metal.

not just "underoath" eww.

you can get a decent amount of gain out of it, low end sounds decent. theres better options of course but hey if an orange is neccesary go with the rockverb 50

rocker blows, Thunderverb though it has more gain stages doesnt have as much gain on tap as the rockverb

Yeah, I'm currently looking at the rockerverb, but I think we might just end up going with the jcm 2000

Dude, in no way does slipknot have good tone

I was just using it as an example that yeah, Oranges can do metal.

Orange will probably kick the hell out of the 2000...

but then again, I never saw what type of metal you play :shrugs:

Uhm.
When you want Screamo tone say screamo not metal.
Pretty different tones.
Underoath from the videos ive been seeing have a cleaner smoother type distortion which i think an Orange should be able to do but i dont have one infront of me .
Id say get a Rocker 30 like mentioned above and an overdrive.
Should give you some pretty wide range in tones.

EDIT: Heres some songs i found on you tube to show their tones and which ones your looking after.

The JCM2000 (TSL) I tried was extremely disappointing. Make sure you try one out if you plan on buying it.

Jim Root is an amazing player. Don't judge guitarists by the band they play in.

JCM's are alright, I use a 2000 with a mesa flat or marshall slant cab, It's good, but i diddn't find it amazingly versatile, great tight bottom end for live playing though.

I would go with the orange, or consider orange Cabs.

The way i read it made it seem like you were saying the 2 playes in the band are ****, which is generally a common misconception as both are really talented.

No hard feelings, aye mon?

you made two terrible comments on one page.

and you have that rig!?

why bother giving your two cents?

Rockerverb has enough gain for lots of metal but people like Root tighten and boost them up with a wide range of OD and EQs - that must be remembered.
