No spider.

Its neither a " good combo or head and cab".

I've heard good things about these : http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/B52-60Watt-1x12-Tube-Combo?sku=480046
Try one out.

Is it that difficult to look 1 post up?

Okay, maybe a list of amps available in the UK, or a website to look in would be helpful.

Most amps, except for the Crate V, Crate Palomino, B52 etc.
Also remember Laneys are much cheaper.

Peavey Windsor is worth a look.

Any more from UK?
The winsor or vox isnt really metal enough if you get me?
I was going to get a peavey 6260 or bugera or vk but due to lack of money...
any more suggestions?
And whats exactly wrong with spider?

the vox ad50xl is waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy better than the spider and the spider sounds too digital

if you get the spider over the vox ad50xl then you are an idiot

You're referring to the Spider 3 right?

Well lets say compared to my Valvetronix, it sounds like poop in a bag.
Its distortion sounds like a car with a failing engine.
I've played one, my former bandmate had one, heard it plenty of times.

For metal, it would be horrible. It's cleans are eh at best.

So yeah, all in all, not a very good amp.

Look into a Laney if they're cheaper. They do metal very well.

Why isn't the Vox metal enough? I played it and it sounded pretty metal to my ears.
And the spider just doesn't sound as good as the Vox. Also, it is not very responsive to the way you play, almost like a cheap keyboard and no matter what guitar you play through it, it always sounds the same. Those are problems the Vox does not have.

Both true.

Although certain things like pinch harmonics, palm muting etc sound better when my Vox gets a little pedal help.

Although my amp is new, i still have the urge to buy a newer one.
And more pedals. Even though i just bought a Phase 90.
Aaaaarrrghhh!

Why that?

EDIT: I know a tube combo like a Bugera would sound better, but the ts already said that he can't afford those.

Just go try them.
Try the Vox, Laney (which will obvs be better but will be out of your price range), Bugera, Peavey.

If you have to, save up and get a more expensive (but obviously better) amp.

Save up for the Bugera, it WILL be worth it.

I don't mean to be fastidious, but surely everyone who asks what amp they should get should post in the "Which Amp?" thread?
Gear:
Peavey JSX Head
Ibanez PGM301
Randall R212CB

Simple.

Why that?

Because it's really bad sounding? Because you can get other amps for the same price which are superior?
#27
also look at Line 6 Flextones, and don't think they suck cos theyre made by line6 fyi only the spider series let line6 down, flextones are considered the best solid states around the £300 mark, look em up. i've got one and it pwns

I don't recall it having a band sound. Just my personal view though (and also the consensus on these boards if I remember correctly).

I'd take a Valetronix over any similarly priced Roland or Peavey.

Likewise, but you can still get better valve amps in the range he specified.

Yeah, I agree. But the modellers are more versatile in this price range, so I tend to recommend them. For a specific sound, tube amps are way better though.

i really cant afford to save up tbh because im gonan need it soon because ive got a f**ck load of gigs coming up
