I know that R taylors are made by a small group of highly experienced luthiers but does that make them that much superior to the regular taylors that one should pay twice the price for getting one.Taylors are the best sounding acoustics i have heard in my life and i don't see how the R taylors could be any better

If I'm not mistaken, the R. Taylor guitars are all custom. Taylor guitars are just the regular production.
Equipment:
- Art & Lutherie Cedar CW (SOLD! )
- Martin D-16RGT w/ LR Baggs M1 Active Soundhole Pickup
- Seagull 25th Anniversary Flame Maple w/ LR Baggs Micro EQ

Lots of things happen with a custom guitar that don't happen in production guitars. For example each soundboard is thicknessed and voiced individually to get the best possible tone out of a piece of wood. The high prices come from paying highly skilled people in a labor intensive process. Whether they're worth the money depends on what you are willing to pay.
