So.. I've been doing some research on piccolo basses out of curiosity, and various sources state that they are tuned one octave higher than the normal electric bass... if that's the case, then wouldn't it just be in the same tune as a guitar? god this is confusing
My Rig:
Yamaha RBX 375 bass
Peavey Millenium BXP bass (won at Summer Slaughter 2010, signed by all the bands)
Eden Nemesis NC410 320w combo amp
Check out Tyrannicide, my death/thrash metal band:

the scale length and string gauges distinguish the sound from a guitar. and especially if you look at a fretless piccolo, it's an entirely different sounding instrument.
^^not necessarily helpful.

Pete Wentz sig reaches level 32, it evolves into Mark Hoppus bass.
Mark Hoppus bass uses tone knob!
it's super unneffective!

Victor Wooten plays a piccolo, does he sound like a guitar? Course Not the instrument itself makes it sound differant.

Or Les Claypool, or Stanley Clarke. If you want good examples of piccolo, check them out.
