im looking at the peavey envoy or the peavey vypr, ive played the envoy and enjoy it very much but ive heard great things about the vypr to.

for those wanting to tell me another amp
i play

mainly old school metal (metallica, ozzy, obituary), some new metal (darkest hour,trivium...) and some blues and classic rock.

im not to worried about the clean channel but it would be nice to have though.

price range is about 300, nothing more.....well 350 if im really lucky

EDIT- NO CRATES!.

I AM OPEN TO A TUBE AMP

I WILL LOOK ON CRAIGSLIST BUT IM ASKING HERE ABOUT NEW EQUIPMENT

have you considered a tube amp with a good OD pedal instead.

Crate V series amps are selling for dirt cheap.

i have a crate and im just fed up with it, they get way to much feedback and sound bad.

i would consider a tube amp yes

See if you can try out one of the Crate V18 or Crate 33 there not the best but they beat out any vypyr ive played with a simple OD infront of it.
There both tube amps.

There the only ones i recomend, i think the V50 is way way to buzzy IMO.

Also if you can look into craigslist and see if you can find a valveking, they usually go for 200 used and it still leaves money over for a pedal.

As far as overdrive and gain, ive always tought any cheap tube amp sounds better than any modeler, not that modelers are bad its just my Opinion.
