Alder is definitely cheaper.

I doubt you'll get a better offer than the one jscustoms gave you tbh.

Cant you build your own?

Look on axesrus, they do some strat(but not RG) style bodys

Mate you are DEFINATLY not going to get that for 100 quid so build a rough strat shape then and cut and sand at it till its a RG

http://www.guitarworkshop-uk.com/ is done on CNC routing which means the guy has to put the wood in and press go and it comes out the other end complete, it requires next to no human input which means hes not paying himself by the hour to do everything by hand like most luthiers will be.

I say build it yourself, if you have access to the tools. It would be a good learning experience, and should be easy as pie.

Also, although people always panic about first builds, I've never seen one turn out horribly, and people are always pleased. Sure, Austinzor's build DOES resemble a guitar in cake form, but he was still smiling like a window-licker afterwards.

i only really have a jigsaw and a drill though and other car mechanic stuff (my dad owns a garage) and since i want direct mount pickups i dont see how i can do it without a router, which if i bought i would probably only use once...
