first off, what are the differences between these two?

If i am in the process of making a Mark Knopfler strat. i am using a red mexican stratocaster. the pickups suck on it now. Mark has the texas specials on his guitar, but can i get away with the tex mex's?

can i also get a good versatile sound with these. like be able to do dire straights and go into an eagles song

People often say they are the same but they are not.

Texas Specials sound very good when set low, very characteristic. Very stevie ray-ish. Tex Mex's do too but are more versatile, they dont sound terrible when set high like Texas Specials do.

Both are good pickups. But the Tex Mex pickups are crafted in Mexico.

I took out my Tex Mex pickups in favor of some Custom Shop 69 pickups. More sweet, and original sounding.

I'd be going for either Lace Sensors, or go the other way and get some vintage reproductions like Rockmonkey.
Actually called Mark!
