The thumb rapes it in pretty much every way.

Seriously, they are very different basses. Having somewhat similar specs does not make the basses alike that much. The tone and feel is very, very different.

That's what I'm getting at. A character in my novel has a Duff McKagan-ish sound, but he doesn't use a Fender bass.

Warwick Thumb

Schecter Stiletto Custom

" " Studio

a book?

describe the character. the more imaginative of us would love to match a bass to a personality.

but Warwick if he is badass, obsessive, or emotional

Schecter if he is cold, imperial, or passive

I'm assuming he's trying to communicate a perfect incarnation/physical state of the sound in his head.

Personally, I love the thumb, but it is not a Duff tone you will get here.

He's an arrogant and sarcastic dude with a sort of dark charisma about him. I think of Jim Morrison (not that he's any of these) when he has a part. I've checked out fender basses, but I don't think they match him. If it helps, his theme song is "All in the Suit That You Wear" by STP.

not what i meant..he had a line break between each bass name, i.e.

bass 1
*empty line*
bass 2, etc.

therefore the empty line separates the basses

but anyway i think you should get him a traben chaos core

Warwick.

custom shop. with an ebony fretboard and a split coil pickup.

he bought it because it was an expensive custom bass for cheap (he got it at a pawn shop), and it makes him feel superior to everyone else. It has a long scrape on the back he tries to hide from everyone, because he thinks it makes his bass less awesome. he usually uses the split coil for sound, and will every once and a while add a little edge with the other. when he's mad, he uses the single coils much more. he has numerous derogative nicknames for it, but he is really quite proud of it.

that's my little mental picture. you can trade it around, move whatever you want.

do some more, that was fun.

Mmmm, Sadowsky, maybe.

Course, he could be a real badass and use a cheap Yamaha or Ibanez or something. I see serious muso's using Thumb's and people with no sense of tone using Schecters, so I dunno.

Ooooh, I went there

Okay guys, yesterday I went to guitar center and picked up a warwick (double buck, I think) and a Schecter Hellraiser 5 to test through a Line 6 Low Down bass amp. I liked the Hellraiser more because the coat is smoother and is more 'him', so to speak. Thanks for your funny inference, Nutter_101.
