My girlfriend just got me a 335 dollar gift certificate to musicians friend, and i have some cash saved up, so im wondering what i should get/save up for. my Prents are getting me the acoustic 200 watt head/cab and the MXR auto wah for christmas, so amp/fun goofyness is covered. im going to start trying to get a band going soon, that would play pretty much anything, nothing to heavy though, no cannibal corpse, sorry haha. i play a lot of rhcp and funk, and am getting into jazz, so im looking for something good for those. ive been looking at the 5 string ibanez ATK, ive heard good things about them, but im not positive. wht does the lmight bass forums knowledge suggest i do?

Good question.

I'd probably get a 2009 MIM Jazz with a maple fretboard or if I had a lot of money, a 5 string American Standard.

I agree with TooFast. Get that newer mim jazz bass. It looks amazing and should sound great. Its very versatile, and will suit most genres.

i would get a fender aerodyne, or a high-end schecter or ibanez.

If you are trying to play with a band, you might want to look into a 4x10 to complete the stack

the ATK are great.

definitely look at another cab.

maybe look at a tuner pedal, always a great tool.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.
