Post lyrics you like BUT: Make it from a certain type of music you don't normally listen to.

I ask that because if you like an artist or genre, you're more open-minded and biased. For instance; if someone likes Bob Dylan, they're more likely to think "Man these lyrics are great". However if you're listening to music that never appealed to you, and the lyrics impressed you, that, at least to me, says more about the lyrics.

Also, I really don't care for Rock/Metal/Blues lyrics and those are the most listened to genres here.

Anyways, here's my contribution. I've always liked that Nat King Cole "Unforgettable" song. I like the music the most, but the lyrics have always appealed to me.

Unforgettable, thats what you are
Unforgettable though near or far
Like a song of love that clings to me
How the thought of you does things to me
Never before has someone been more

Unforgettable in every way
And forever more, thats how youll stay
Thats why, darling, its incredible
That someone so unforgettable
Thinks that I am unforgettable too

<instrumental interlude>

Unforgettable in every way
And forever more, thats how youll stay
Thats why, darling, its incredible
That someone so unforgettable
Thinks that I am unforgettable too

Swollen with liquid
Ready to burst
A load of my lymph
Will quench this dead body's thirst
One month in the grave
twisted and half decayed
She turned a putrid yellow
I pissed in her maggot filled asshole

****ing the rotting
My semen is bleeding
The smell of decay
Seeps from her genital cavity

The smell was unbearable As I unburied her
I cum blood from my erection
I feel it run
down her throat, swallow

Eyes glassy and vacant
body dug up to play with
Skin greasy and naked
tounguing her rotted anus

I need a live woman
to fill with my fluid
A delicate girl, to mutilate, **** and kill
her body exceptional
she thought I was normal
but I wanted more

I came blood inside of her
chocking on the clot
gagging on the snot
gushing blood, from her mouth
bloody gel leaking out
Body buried in a shallow grave
Unmarked for none to find
The sickness I have left behind
Undetected go my crimes
The greatest thrill of my life

Violent, climax Serging serum
on my skin

Back from the dead
I am resurrected
to spew, putrefaction

and although i cant remember the name of the song i remember one line from one of eminems songs that really kinda hit deep and it goes

If I can't stand the music, I wouldn't even bother knowing the lyrics.
Unless Andrew Pants counts.

Billy Ray Cyrus is pretty underrated on the country scene. Achy Break Heart was silly, ignorant, hugely popular, but sort of ruined his career. Few hits after, but not many

EDIT oh, you want lyrics. my favorite lines are bold

I was going through the closet
back at my old home
found my letterman's jacket
and i slipped it on.Deep in the pocket, still folded up tight
Was the letter you wrote to tell me goodbye.
The minute I saw it I just had to smile
It smelled like old leather, as smooth as a child.
I took a deep breath, then put it away.
There was no need to read, I knew just what it would say.
CHORUS:
I know the words by heart, I know every line
From "this ain't easy" to "you'll get along just fine."
I know every comma, every question mark.
No, I don't have to look, I know the words by heart.

Scenes like home movies flash through my head.
The homecoming game, that night on my bed.
The words that you wrote still cut me in two,
How you said you still cared but that we were through.
REPEAT CHORUS
Ain't it funny how a memory can play
tricks on your mind.
I don't remember a thing from my classes
But I can quote you every line.

I took off my jacket and put it away
With your note in the pocket
Like I found it that day.
Poured me a beer, then pictured your face
And drank a silent toast to things that time can't erase.REPEAT CHORUS TWICE

Everlast-What It's Like. Not my genre, but that is a great song, exceptional lyrics. Most of you probably know them, but here, without the music.

We've all seen the man at the liquor store beggin' for your change
The hair on his face is dirty, dreadlocked and full of mange
He ask the man for what he could spare with shame in his eyes
Get a job you ****in' slob's all he replied

[CHORUS]
God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in his shoes
'Cause then you really might know what it's like to sing the blues
Then you really might know what it's like [x4]

Mary got pregnant from a kid named Tom who said he was in love
He said don't worry about a thing baby doll I'm the man you've been dreamin' of
But three months later he said he won't date her or return her call
And she sweared god damn if I find that man I'm cuttin' off his balls
And then she heads for the clinic and she gets some static walkin' through the doors
They call her a killer, and they call her a sinner, and they call her a *****

[CHORUS]
God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in her shoes
'Cause then you really might know what it's like to have to choose
Then you really might know what it's like [x4]
I've seen a rich man beg
I've seen a good man sin
I've seen a tough man cry
I've seen a loser win
And a sad man grin
I heard an honest man lie
I've seen the good side of bad
And the down side of up
And everything between
I licked the silver spoon
Drank from the golden cup
Smoked the finest green
I stroked the baddest dimes at least a couple of times
Before I broke their heart
You know where it ends
Yo, it usually depends on where you start

I knew this kid named Max
He used to get fat stacks out on the corner with drugs
He liked to hang out late at night
Liked to get **** faced
And keep pace with thugs
Until late one night there was a big gun fight
Max lost his head
He pulled out his chrome .45
Talked some ****
And wound up dead
Now his wife and his kids are caught in the midst of all of his pain
You know it crumbles that way
At least that's what they say when you play the game

[CHORUS]
God forbid you ever had to wake up to hear the news
'Cause then you really might know what it's like to have to lose
Then you really might know what it's like [x3]
To have to lose...

Wow, those are actually great lyrics, I'm surprised and impressed. Thank you.

The same thing actually applies to Tim McGraw, and I really don't like country.

Dustin Kensrue is also a great lyricist. I never liked the post-hardcore, but Artist in the Ambulance has amazing lyrics.

Clint Black is one of the best lyric writers in country music, along with Paul Overstreet, for coming up with unique ways of saying things, ie, new metaphors and visual imagery. Didn't post lyrics from them because I listen to them a lot. Check out Black's Life Gets Away, it's pretty cool. May recognize the music from the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, seems like Eubanks does the main riff before a commercial frequently.

We're tied to our memories
They won't let us stray
We're not gonna lose ones
We made yesterday
We look to our future
And we make all our plans
As if we control what is out of our hands
(Chorus)
The world keeps on turning
I'm learning to see
Right where I am is where I have to be
You can't count the pages
All ages hear the call
No matter how hard we try
Life gets away from us all
We start getting older
The moment we live
Look over your shoulder
There's hindsight to give
Come good days and bad days
The sun's gonna rise
So why look beyond what's in front of your eyes
Repeat Chorus
No matter how hard we try
Life gets away from us all

Black Star- Respiration

The new moon rode high in the crown of the metropolis
Shinin, like who on top of this?
People was tusslin, arguin and bustlin
Gangstaz of gotham hardcore hustlin
Im wrestlin with words and ideas
My ears is picky, seekin what will transmit
The scribes can apply to transcript, yo
This aint no time where the usual is suitable
Tonight alive, lets describe the inscrutable
The indisputable, we new york the narcotic
Strength in metal and fiber optics
Where mercenaries is paid to trade hot stock tips
For profits, thirsty criminals take pockets
Hard knuckles on the second hands of workin class watches
Skyscrapers is collosus, the cost of living
Is preposterous, stay alive, you play or die, no options
No batman and robin, cant tell between
The cops and the robbers, they both partners, they all heartless
With no conscience, back streets stay darkened
Where unbeliever hearts stay hardened
My eagle talons stay sharpened, like city lights stay throbbin
You either make a way or stay sobbin, the shiny apple
Is bruised but sweet and if you choose to eat
You could lose your teeth, many crews retreat
Nightly news repeat, who got shot down and locked down
Spotlight to savages, nasdaq averages
My narrative, rose to explain this existance
Amidst the harbor lights which remain in the distance

So much on my mind that I cant recline
Blastin holes in the night til she bled sunshine
Breathe in, inhale vapors from bright stars that shine
Breathe out, weed smoke retrace the skyline
Heard the bass ride out like an ancient mating call
I cant take it yall, I can feel the city breathin
Chest heavin, against the flesh of the evening
Sigh before we die like the last train leaving

Breathin in deep city breaths, sittin on ****ty steps
We stoop to new lows, hell froze the night the city slept
The beast crept through concrete jungles
Communicatin with one another
And ghetto birds where waters fall
From the hydrants to the gutters
The beast walk the beats, but the beats we be makin
You on the wrong side of the track, lookin visibly shaken
Taken them plungers, plungin to death thats painted by the numbers
With crime unapplied pressure, cats is playin god
But havin children by a lesser baby mother but **** it
We played against each other like puppets, swearin you got pull
When the only pull you got is the wool over your eyes
Gettin knowledge in jail like a blessing in disguise
Look in the skies for god, what you see besides the smog
Is broken dreams flying away on the wings of the obscene
Thoughts that people put in the air
Places where you could get murdered over a glare
But everything is fair
Its a paradox we call reality
So keepin it real will make you casualty of abnormal normality
Killers born naturally like, mickey and mallory
Not knowing the waysll get you capped like an nba salary
Some cats be emceeing to illustrate what we be seeing
Hard to be a spiritual being when **** is shakin what you believe in
For trees to grow in brooklyn, seeds need to be planted
Im asking if yall feel me and the crowd left me stranded
My blood pressure boiled and rose, cause new york niggaz
Actin spoiled at shows, to the winners the spoils go
I take the l, transfer to the 2, head to the gates
New york life type trife the roman empire state

So much on my mind I just cant recline
Blastin holes in the night til she bled sunshine
Breathe in, inhale vapors from bright stars that shine
Breathe out, weed smoke retrace the skyline
Yo dont the bass ride out like an ancient mating call
I cant take it yall, I can feel the city breathin
Chest heavin, against the flesh of the evening
Sigh before we die like the last train leaving

[spanish speaking woman] escuchela.. respirando ? ?

Yo...on the amen, corner I stood lookin at my former hood
Felt the spirit in the wind, knew my friend was gone for good
Threw dirt on the casket, the hurt, I couldnt mask it
Mixin down emotions, struggle I hadnt mastered
I coreograph seven steps to heaven
And hell, waiting to exhale and make the bread leavened
Veteran of a cold war its chica-i-go for
What I know or, whats known
So some days I take the bus home, just to touch home
From the crib I spend months gone
Sat by the window with a clutched dome listenin to shorties cuss long
Young girls with weak minds, but they butt strong
Tried to call, or at least beep the lord, but didnt have a touch-tone
Its a dog-eat-dog world, you gotta mush on
Some of this land I must own
Outta the city, they want us gone
Tearin down the jects creatin plush homes
My circumstance is between cabrini and love jones
Surrounded by hate, yet I love home
Ask my God how he thought travellin the world sound
Found it hard to imagine he hadnt been past downtown
Its deep, I heard the city breathe in its sleep
Of reality I touch, but for me its hard to keep
Deep, I heard my man breathe in his sleep
Of reality I touch, but for me its hard to keep

So much on my mind I just cant recline
Blastin holes in the night til she bled sunshine
Breathe in, inhale vapors from bright stars that shine
Breathe out, weed smoke retrace the skyline
Yo how the bass ride out like an ancient mating call
I cant take it yall, I can feel the city breathing
Chest heavin, against the flesh of the evening
Kiss the ides goodbye, Im on the last train leaving
