I have just seen this movie, and my GOD it was amazing. It was really touching and I thought it really showed me a lot of our society and, argh, so much stuff I just can't even list them all. I cried, so much death and tradgedy and I really feel bad for Forrest because he had no idea what he was really doing

I think we really should be more respectful to autistic and less intelligent people now, and be more polite in general cause we don't know what they could possibly have been though

It's a great movie... and if you wanna do that, maybe you should be nice to everybody, because you don't know what they've been through.

Never heard of Seinfeld, what kind of music do they play? Assuming they use Kramers, it must be heavy!

best movie of all time
Soon you will sit on the bench
of those who deny I have my soul
You sell a dream you create
Condemned by what you condemned before
Smooth are the words you sing down and high
Underground is your joy your laws

darn good movie. Based on a book which is even longer from what I hear, they had to leave out a lot of things Forrest did to squeeze it into a 3 hour movie.

Did Forrest narrate in the book? I think because it's in the movie his emotions and (have to say it) stupidity came out so honest. His voice is just, so pitiful

I really feel bad for Bubba dying, Jenny dying, his mother dying, everything I hate my bad eyesight, but I think to myself at least I am not an amputee or autistic.

Forrest is a TOTALLY different person in the book.

I enjoy the moral of the story but think it's too childish..

Forrest is a TOTALLY different person in the book.

Then I will not read it

I wish Forrest just understood how much he had really accomplished. If he was real he would be a national hero. I feel bad for people with low IQ's, but sometimes their stupidity is just plain annoying. TBH most of us here on UG are very smart, though horny :P

The whole point of the movie was that for the large part, he did.

No brainer.

Love Forrest Gump, but like Random88 said, Shawshank Redemption was better IMO.

It's just like a sort of epiphany for me =\ You may call someone an idiot and not think twice about it, but it can really hurt them. I need to see Shawshank..

yes, forrest narrated the book. it was very similar to the way tom hanks talked in the movie, but the book didnt have the same heart.

the movies puts it into a nearly believable situation, the book gets pretty ridiculous. and the shrimping story in the movie was way better than in the book.
