I was changing my strings last night, going to Ernie Ball Beefy Slinkies, and snapped my high e string while tightening it. It is now the day before Christmas and very icy so I doubt the local guitar shop will be open. Is it okay to leave the guitar with no high e string for a few days or should I try to salvage the old string an put it back on?

It's fine. I've had an acoustic without a high e-string for a year now and it hasn't warped the neck.

It's fine to leave it this way...

But my local guitar shop was actually open today, went to buy some strings
So there's probably still time to see if they're open

What gauge strings were you changing from? You'll need to get an adjustment done to your guitar's neck if you were using strings that were much lighter. And check your bridge for any burr/sharp edges which might be causing your string to snap when tightening!

Going from 9 to 11. I may see if they are open to drop it off and get the neck adjusted also.

It is only 8:15 am here so I will have to wait until at least Noon to even know if they are open.
