Just finished talking to my friend, and he said that the distorion on his amp doesn't work and instead it's just like clean, but every so often a muddled static kinda sound comes out. He's took it to his local guitar store and it worked perfectly fine there, he said they could find no problem with it.

Any ideas?

EDIT: I'm pretty sure the amp is a Peavey Envoy 110, or something to that effect.

He bought a new lead at the store to see if that would help so it's not that, and no, he's not running any effects.

if its an SS amp forget about it and move on

if it were a tube amp it'd likely be an easy fix for a tech

moral of the story: use his christmas money to buy an amp
Get off this damn forum and play your damn guitar.
