hi guys, just a few questions..

i bought an orange tiny terror a few weeks ago and i noticed that two of the valves are enclosed in a silver cilender whilst the other two have a clasp with springs holding them down, and i was just wondering why this is?

also, one of the valves held with the clasp and springs glows twice as bright as the other valve held by a clasp and springs, is the second valve faulty?

thanks

The ones in the cylinder are the preamp tubes. They put them in those so it reduces microphonics.

The tubes are most likely fine, you usually can't tell if they're bad or not just by looking at them, if you just got it, and it sounds fine, I seriously doubt the tubes are dead.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.
