I don't recommend passive pickups for any kind of blues tone. Ideally, you'd want a passive pickup with a reasonably low level of output.

This may be trolling but it was on the front page so w/e.

Personally I can't stand Nickelback, everything they write sounds the exact same to me. and Chad Kroegers (spell check on that one) is completely garbage he always sings in that same annoying tone.

But in respect their very first album was alright. How you remind we was overplayed as **** but it wasn't a terrible song, but as soon as they found that sound that they have and that same annoying tone for everything they started abusing it way to much.

They have the most awful lyrical content out of any band I've ever heard. All of their songs are stupid nostalgic cliches, or disgusting sex/drug-themed "anthems." Not to mention their music is beyond bland and extremely played out. They have no redeeming qualities whatsoever. They sound like their songs are written by think-tank groups in the board room of some marketing firm. Calling them a "band" that plays "music" is deeply insulting to anyone that has ever actually played in a band or written music. And that's all I have to say on the matter.

This sums it up for me as well. I like a few of there heavier tunes. Side of a Bullet, Hit the Floor, but other then that Chad needs to stop making the same album over and over again.

Granted if you enjoy it then thats all that matters. I prefer Theory of a Deadmans Scars and Souvenirs.

I heard S-E-X the other day. I lol'd.

I love how most of their songs now are either about sex, getting wasted, or being awesome. None of which apply to their lifestyle or their personality.

Nickelback's album is just what i expected personally i think that this album shouldnt have that much soft songs and concentrate on real hard rock with decent lyrics but they wont do that cause they only want to be ****in famous and that's why i wont buy theyre album and i hope not hear them in the radio

Zach, I think you're just as bitter as I am about them getting more pussy than us every single night, and getting paid more to perform their lame songs.

Let's start a riot at one of their concerts.

That wasn't their first album, just their major label debut IIRC. They had one or two albums before that(mostly post grunge stuff).

I agree there songs are lame but, Chad is married. What I think is overlooked is a lot of band members are married. This isnt the 80's anymore..

Oh, so you're saying that just because a celebrity is "married", that means that they don't fuck around? Wow. That means hardly anything in this day and age. And the fact that most of the band members are married totally contributes to the poserness in their music. Not that I think Chad can get any anyway with that mustache and all.

Yes there lyrics are childish, but thinking that most band members cheat on there wives is really ignorant imo. I think that just shows how insecure people are when in a relationship. There would be a lot of money involved if most celebrities messed around.

Back on subject, Something In your mouth or w/e its called came on the radio, and the DJ was a lady and she was like that song is so dirty and awesome. I was thinking those lyrics sound like a 14 year old wrote them..

i dont like nickelback and im pretty sure the majority of ug doesn't either.

thing ive never understood is why people say when i say bad things about nickelback "well they play a different genre than most bands today, so yeah". Even if that was true, there are many other bands that play the same genre they do, and do it way better than them.

if you like them though, thats your preference. I dont like them though

I don't understand that either. Since when is watered-down pop rock different from anyone else?

They're like a light, boring, more immature version of all the other stupid modern rock bands I hate. Like if Puddle Of Mudd decided to be less groundbreaking.

When it comes to post grunge, I'll listen to Silverchair. The only post-grunge I like.

Even Silverchair broke away from that label though (for better or for worse is another story), whereas Nickleback still think they are grunge's autistic child.

I will not warn you in this thread for band bashing because everything we're saying is true. Hehe.

But, I think Nickelback tries too hard to be cool instead of being original. Which is something I always look for in discovering new bands.

I've heard it through once, and I gotta say I hate it. I enjoyed All The Right Reasons a lot actually, I thought it was pretty diverse, and interesting. Silver Side Up and The Long Road are also pretty good. But Dark Horse is awful in my opinion. Too electronic sounding for me.
#30
I think Nickelback sounds like neo-southern rock or possibly country rock (if that exists). Anyway, I'm not a big fan of country-western and as such, cannot comment on their new album because I won't listen to it.

yeah when i heard that song i was like "LAME"
hes starting to become a wannabe rockstar. im pretty sure he has a wife now.
and just the melody of the vocals and riffs in between sounded kind of bad.

i also found gotta be somebody too cliché.
i still enjoy their older hits, like how you remind me and feelin way too damn good or w-e.

I think the album's great.

Fuck the haters, I can see why you all don't like them, but they keep re-appearing and bringing out successful albums. They make good, easy-to-listen-to music, I recognise they aren't the most talented band in the world, nor are they my favourite, but I still really enjoy listening to them.

However, they need a new lyricist. Chad Kroeger writes like a teenager still enamoured with the "sex, drugs and rock-n-roll" lifestyle, and it makes some of their songs unbearable to listen to. There's no question they've gone commercial, but to me their music hasn't suffered at all. It's the lyrics that have suffered, and Dark Horse is definitely the worst of the lot of them for awful lyrics so far. Some great riffs though IMO

If've always stuck by nickleback in the past but for me lyrically Dark Horse is kinda just Goin with the times, there are some good songs on there but it seems like they got away from the sound that gotta them where they are on silver side up

Fixed.

I'll agree that Rockstar is the worst song ever written. There's a similar song on the new record that's almost as corny and disgusting. Shame really.
