Yes Christmas is here, and with it a full wallet.

So I'm looking for a tube amp, or possibly a hybrid. I want a head, as I want to build a cab as a little project. I'm into Skid Row, Nirvana, Sex Pistols, G'n'R; and newer stuff like some Slipknot (Iowa/Vol 3.).

I want to be able to get most of my distortion from the amp, although I can always use a TS for heavier stuff.

I'm soon upgrading to active pups in my jackson.

Oh and my budget is sorta <£400 if possible. Unless the Bank of Mum and Dad is open today.

Thanks and Merry Christmas

Louis.

Go with Ibanez...Or if you're going high-end, get a Jackson.

Bugera(s) - great but maybe reliability problems
Laney VC30 - probably won't do the metal well
Peavey Classic 30 - great for the classic rock-ish stuff

Hey, thanks.

Looking into Bugeras now, always have my SS as backup.

Looked into the VC30 before, and no. It's a great amp, but not enough gain for what I'm looking for.

Classic 30, I'll have a look now.

Any suggestions on a particular marshall?

only marshalls worth getting for him are an old JCM800 or maybe a JVM, both pretty expensive

Anyone had experience with the Bugera 6260 head & 412H-BK 4x12 cabinet?

Totals out at about £470.

NOOB QUESTION: Erm, silly as I'm sure it may seem, what type of cable am I looking for for the head to cab? Just a high quality jack lead or something specific?

Many thanks,

Louis.

the 6260 is a metal beast, but it wont do classic rock very well. i say get a peavey classic 30, and you can boost it with your OD when necessary
periphery/bulb!

gear:
Ibanez RG7321 w/ D-sonic in bridge

Peavey 5150 mk ii & b52 4x12 cab

line 6 podxt for recording

Head and Cab for $130? You don't need a head and cabinet, you need a psychological examination.
#15
honestly i think you should get a used JCM800 or Rocker 30 or Sovtek Mig and an overdrive pedal

Edit: or Laney AOR/Pro-tube

Thanks for suggestions, but what type of lead do I need for head to cab?

Speaker cable or kettle lead, they're both the same thing.
If you do go Bugera, don't get the 333 series.

Cheers dude. I'm going for the 6260.
