Boxing day? I'm just about to eat christmas lunch!

Anyways, the important question is: why do you want a compressor?

Whether or not it will be useful depends on what you want it to do.

Compressors are graet for vocal use. Look at a wave form that is compressed and not compressed. The uncompressed has so many spikes on the high and the low frequences. The compressed wave form is just smooth without any spikes.

Oh forgot to the add the important stuff. A compressor makes louder parts quieter and quieter parts louder. You get more constancy.
