and im going to be gone for a little over a week. im going snowboarding on sugar mountain in north carolina . im bringing my dean acoustic, polish cloth, spare strings, and some other guitar do-dads.

now my question is: what can on put on the strings of my other guitars to keep them from completely rusting? they are slightly rusted now and have been on for maybe a month or two(???). so what household products will protect my strings while im gone?

my B.C. Rich will be in its hard case and my strat-copy will be in a gig bag. thanx for the help!

Don't bother, rusty strings is the ultimate sign that you NEED to change them.
They're most likely ready for a change now!

You think they'll rust that much from 7 days without playing?

Dean Markley NickleSteel Electrics? They're almost, but not quite the cheapest/easiest to get strings around here. I play anywhere from a few times a week to a few hours a day depending on if I'm obsessing over guitar or hating guitar.

Spray some WD/40 on a cloth (light amount)and then clean them with the cloth.

hey thanks! i just tried that and it worked well. i could even see the strings getting cleaner. theres way less rust on them now.
