When my girlfriend arrives back from her trip I would like to sing her her favorite Mat Kearney song. Problem is that I'm having trouble duplicating his voice. Anybody know how I would begin to impersonate someone's voice?

Don't bother trying to duplicate it, it probably won't happen.

You're usually good at it or you're not.

What Reva said. Just sing it your own way.

And good luck!

Study it, Have perfect pitch ears, make sure you get ALL of the 'bend' and 'slide' sounds.
That's about it.

Just sing it in your voice. You either can or cant duplicate.

I find that I feel the same about women who play bass as I think of immigrants in America.

I respect them for finding a place in society under a lot of ridicule, but I have an odd paranoia that they are going to steal my job.

you will never be able to duplicate someone's voice with your own, its impossible...

but you can practice it and make it a legit cover by finding your own way to perform it...

practice man, practice.

Well thanks for the tips. I was half expecting a good amount of flaming. I guess I just wasn't mean to sing his style, I've been trying for a while but can't seem to manage it. Oh well I suppose.

I sound exactly like Bret Michaels, its not something I'm proud of but one day my friends said he heard him in an interview and that I sound exactly like him. I tried singing a Poison song and it was pretty good after a year of practicing I'm like spot on.

Lol k

But yeah TS just sing it your own way. She'll probably prefer it. She can listen to him sing whenever she wants.
