My guitar teacher wants to sell me a Les Paul (not sure 100 % which one). I am not sure if it is a fake or not.

Serial : dw04022703

Here are some pictures :

Is it fake ? And for what reasons ?

No.
Who would fake an Epiphone when they could make fake Gibson out of the same materials (hence same cost) and sell it for a lot more??

Nah, that's real. Maybe the Gibson truss rod cover looked off to you, but some Epis do have that.

It is an Epiphone, not a fake. Like everyone else said I dont think you'll find many fake Epiphones. If you were making a copy of anything you'd go for something that would give you the biggest financial return for your outlay and it wouldnt be cost effective to copy an epiphone.

Epiphone is probably the most faked brand on the market.

I don't think this one is a fake, unless the teacher is a complete ****.
Actually called Mark!

Thank you all !

He want $400.00 CDN for it but I'm selling him my boss BD-2 effect pedal so overall it will cost me $280.00 US.

I will buy a Vox VT15 too.

A new Epi Les Paul Standard cost $550.00 I myself would not pay more than 1/3rd of that about $180.00 maybe 200 bucks tops if it's in mint condition.

I doubt it is fake it's not worth faking an Epi they fake guitar that cost 1000s and sell them for the price you would pay for an Epi. Most Epis made up until 2 or 3 years ago had the Gibson logo on the truss rod cover. I forget when they started putting Gibson on them though but I have Epis that go back as far as 94 that came with Gibson on the truss rod cover.

I ran the serial # and this is what it says,
