a dude told me doing this could potentially thin my guitar tone what do you guys think about doing this?
#2
you could, but you would have to do a little bit of routing. and i can't see how it would 'thin' out the tone. Your not taking THAT much wood out

It'll "thin it out" as you'll have less coupling between the bridge and body. The Mexican Strat's bridge comes into contact with the body via 6 screws, and a Floyd Rose only uses 2. So less vibration will be transmitted from the strings, through the bridge, to the body to resonate and give "body" to the tone.

^^ It won't make a very noticable difference though. Unless TS routs out a huge hole, like the whole body.
