I was thinking about this today. Now, before i say it, don't assume I'm crazy, I'm just curious. In your opinion, do you think that what the Joker did could actually be accomplished by a single man in reality? I mean, basically having control over the mafia, around half the city's cops, government officials, while avoiding capture all at the same time? What are your thoughts?

With the right application of power 1 person could theoretically control the majority of a country but I imagine that anyone attempting to do somthing so twisted would probably stir an uprising.

Theoretically yes, in practice no.

Boreamor, I've teamed up with you against those stupid gryphons, but I disagree. It really depends on how rich/ currently powerful the man is. Being the Joker would be more possible than being Batman, those Batmobiles do NOT come cheap.

with the right materials and the wrong people in positions of power, yes, i guess it is possible. however, the likelihood of such events aligning perfectly is extremely low. that being said, no one's pretending the dark knight, a movie about a man who dresses up like a bat and beats up criminals, is a documentary.
#13
Well if our world shared the morals of the batman world, then yes. They were just totally unwilling to kill him.

I don't think he would make it. Some redneck would shoot his ass too fast for being a queer-o-sexual. After all, he wears makeup. (I have no discrimination against gays, I am satirizing the south).
He's a freak of nature, but we love him so.

I think you guys are missing the point here by referencing Napoleon, Hitler, etc. They had ARMIES.

Hitler didn't have an army until he gained power. Before the rise of National Socialism, Hitler wasn't very successful (as far as I know) until he joined the German Workers' Party, where he gained power over the party and eventually turned it into the Nazi Party, which kept growing until he ultimately became Fuhrer. Similarly, the Joker kept gaining power until he had control over the mafia, and eventually, the city to some extent.

That's actually a good point, really. Many of the highly successful conquerers started out with extremely limited resources. In today's world the comparisons are slightly less valid but still.

I haven't read the entire thread, so this was probably already mentioned, but Hitler did pretty much exactly this.

This film is not as realistic as I thought it would be. The plot is fairly farfetched. But what should I expect! It is hollywood.
#29
^ You expected realism out of a Batman movie?
