Go Orange if you have the money.

That rockerverb is pretty darn loud too.

Do you have a cab?

For $2000, I wouldn't even touch a Rockerverb 50 for metal.

You could pick up a used Bogner Uberschall, Splawn Nitro, Framus Cobra, VHT Ultralead, etc. in that price range, all of which would rape the Orange for metal imo.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

Matrixclaw is right, and all of those suggestions are great amps.
I really love the Uberschall.

As much as I love Orange amps, there are tons of better choices out there for metal with a budget like that.

Nah, if you're going metal get the Line 6 Spider!

Just kidding. I'll be cliche and say go with the Mesa/Boogie Triple/Double Rectifier if one is pulling metal. Although that Slipknot person uses Orange amps, unless Guitar World is lying to me.

I would too if he had a lower price range. With $2000, he could buy a Road King and have enough left over for a nice cab

I'd say the JSX can pull off about anything. It's by Peavy and licensed by Satriani, so you know you're getting your money's worth. The head is about 1400 new, and I think the combo is something like 1800 or 2200 but I can't be sure.

They're $2950 new for the combo here, but the Series I RKs sell for ~$1600 used right now.

By that logic, the MG should be good too

I really like the JSX though, but I think for what the TS wants, he probably wants a more aggressive sounding amp.

If you can't pull an aggressive tone out of that, then I bet you that it won't take much of a pedal to get it.

And Marshall MGs>all other amps.

WeepingEdit:Some guys in a local music store tried to sell me a Marshall MG over a Blue Voodoo I was looking at and told me that it had a solid distortion with great sounding cleans and nice effects and that lots of artists licensed it. I politley told him to eat shit and die.

Check out the VHT Deliverance 60 or 100

August Burns Red started using them on the most recent tour, and they sound SO ****ing good live (the amp........ AND the band of course)
