When I play the E, A and sometimes D strings un-muted, for example in a scale, I rest the fleshy part of my thumb on the body of the guitar right above the bridge pickup. When I move onto the higher 3 strings I rest it on the bass strings. My wrist is not fixed at one point as I move it up and down to accommodate the position of the what string I am playing. Also, I don't use my fingers to hold onto anything. Am I anchoring? I may be a bit vague, but i tried my best to describe it.

I don't consider it anchoring. I do that, but I rest my hand on the bridge of the guitar.

Your description confuses me.
