depends, if they were different active emgs, then you would just have to clip the old ones out and clip the new ones in. now if your putting passives, you going to have to tear out the old pots, put new ones in, and rewire the whole thing

like the guy above said, it would only serve a purpose if you were swapping them for another set of actives. if you're going passive it serves no purpose.
