Hey guys. I got a boss super overdrive pedal for christmas. Wanted to purchase another pedal to go with it. Im looking at the boss super chorus and boss metal core. 2 complete different pedals. I play everything from christian to hardcore but which one is worth the 100 bucks in my pocket to get? Thanks for any info.

i recommend modding your SD-1 if youre handy with a soldering iron

why specifically boss?

$100 can get you a pretty kickass pedal from many brands

The Metal Core is epic, basically the only really good heavy distortion pedal they make, unlike the abomination that is the Metal Zone.

I got the SD1 for Christmas too, it's great ^_^

Why afraid? It's better to find out what it is, then we can help him. Regardless of it if it is a Spider II or III.

I got one for christmas, and so far I've liked it mostly, but how would you recommend modding it? Is there a specific mod I should look up?
I'm Joel. I play guitar. I am a student. I look at the cost of tuition, not in a dollar value, but in the guitars I'm sacrificing now, to be able to buy later.

google "boss SD-1 mods"

theres a ton

look for the one for changing the clipping diodes to LEDs, i think that made the biggest difference to mine

I use my 15W Spider with the Metal Core and I love the tone.
It sounds like a good little SS amp, nothing more.

Metal Core works great, it's like this:

Pedal settings:

Gain - 7
High & Low - 5
Level - 4 (if I go over 5 it feedbacks with banshee screams)

Amp:

Crunch channel (thats right, I add distortion to ma overdrive!)
Gain - 6
Bass - 8
Mid - 4
Treble - 7
Channel - 10
Reverb - 10 (if I want to sound all mystical)
Master - 1 (don't wanna be disturbing the peace)

That's my standard tone for everything (AC/DC, Led Z., Black Sabbath, Deep Purple)

If I need it more metal I just throw both gains to 10 and switch to the clean channel and throw the amps bass to 10 but slightly lower the pedals bass so that it stays clear and the amp doesn't start to vibrate.

Yup.

I use a Strat for the lower gain settings and a G-400 SG for the metal stuff.

Now, I wouldn't go and buy this setup if I had more than 230€ to spend but it is an outstanding practice amp and for a bedroom jam with friends, it's great.

well i love the metalzone, id take it over the core anyday, i just like the tone more.
