Okay, I have been playing a lot of songs in Drop D and Drop C tuning. My problem is that it is mostly the rhythm parts and I would like to better understand the solos, etc.

What scales are songs in these tunings normally played on and how can I tell myself?

Thanks in advance.

Exactly the same scales shifted around two frets, since it's only the bottom string which is different in any way.

alot of the time the song is in the key of d or c depending on what drop tuning

I guess 25.5 is the most common. My PRS is 25 and it's in Drop C, sounds great. Yhe most important factor is string gauge, you'll need at least .10's for those tunings.

Sorry, I meant the scale itself, not the scale size of the guitar. I actually have it set up in Drop C/D with Ernie Ball Beefy Slinkies .11 gauge so I am fine there.

I meant is it teh major, pentatonic, etc.?
