I noticed that I haven't felt like playing guitar lately. I think it might be because I don't feel like I'm being challenged enough. I've been practicing scales a lot, but it's not enough. I want a song to learn to really challenge me. Some fast alternate picking, some 5 string sweeps (I know that's not the most ridiculous technique but that's as far as I can go for now), or some other challenging techniques. Any help is appreciated.
Edit: Oh, and I don't care about genre.

hey man i unno if u like metal/hardcore but there is this song. its got some sic sweeps in the begining, its called Agape by For Today.

Dream Theater has some pretty crazy stuff. If you don't know them, I'd check them out and try to play some of Petrucci's lines. He can go a bit overboard at times, but it still sounds cool.

what kind of music do you like?

Well I like metal and rock, but I really don't care what it is, as long as it's challenging I'm good.

Anymore suggestions would be appreciated, so I can keep a list of songs so I don't have to make another thread in the future.

Baroque and Roll by Yngwie Malmsteen

ya, agape by for today, definetly a tough song

I also suggest Agape.

What makes it more fun is to learn it by ear.

also. if you want sweeping on the slower side
Turn Soonest to the Sea- Protest the Hero
Bury the Hatchet- Protest the Hero

faster sweeping:
Alaska- Between the Buried and Me
Ants of the Sky- BtBaM (that'll keep you busy for a while)

Winter Madness by Wintersun

Check out the solo, if anything.
"Ultimate"-Guitar is the worst website on the internet. Polluted with unintelligent mongoloids.

White Walls or Alaska by Between The Buried And Me.

Anything by Tera Melos pretty much if you're up for some insane tapping stuff. Not really any tabs for their stuff so hopefully you have a good ear :p

Symbiotic in Theory, by Necrophagist.
Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.
Probably picked "for teh lulz"

How about some Judas Priest? Painkiller, from the Painkiller album, and Hellrider, from Angel of Retribution are pretty tough. Also, Death's cover of Painkiller. The solo is totally different. And since we're on Death, you can also try Spirit Crusher.

Well, good luck. Maybe in a couple of years, I'll be able to play those too.

Try some Steve Vai, or Joe Satriani, almost any song by them is pretty challenging. Bleeding Mascara has a nice sweep intro and a good sweep section in the solo. Bladecatcher by Mastodon is sorta challenging, try that one out, as well as Capillarian Crest and Aqua Dementia by them.
#28
Malmsteen's stuff is pretty challenging. Maybe Blitzkreig or Far Beyond the Sun. Or Scarified by Racer X. Just pick any shredder. You could also try learning a completely different style of music, which can be challenging for different reasons. Classical or Jazz, for example.

love how this guy claims thunderhorse should be very easy Like it was the first song he ever learned. Pffft thunderhorse, thats the first song I learned on guitar. I think its a rather challenging song. I just have a problem of keeping my guitar tuned to C in order to get further, I get bored of the song after a while.
