On New Year's Eve, I'm planning a rave with a couple of friends. I need some music that would be conducive to the rave environment.

Some bands I've already got are:
The Chemical Brothers
DJ Satomi
Daft Punk
Skinny Puppy
Freezepop
Eiffel 65

Which isn't very much.
I'm also just generally getting more into electronica/house/techno/whateveryoucallit music, so some good general suggestions would be nice as well.

I have tried the B&A forum, in the proper thread, but nobody has replied, and I need a good list by tomorrow, so please help me and don't report me.

Skinny Puppy is not rave music, and is not conducive to a rave environment, it's too dark and hostile.

and whoever suggest Tiesto and Paul Oakenfold needs to be shot.

well, the first part is self explanitory, the second part is because they both suck horribly and the only people that associate them with raves are poseur tools.

Clipz, Benga, Rusko, Aphex Twin, Venetian Snares, Squarepusher, Benny Page the list is endless, if you don't mind drum & bass and dubstep that is, but they are the ultimate party genres.

None of it is self-explanatory, and your argument is pure bollocks.

Pro-Test is really the only song I was considering from Skinny Puppy.
I'll listen to the others and see if I want to include them.

NOOooo! Are you mental?! Rihanna, Scooter and Cascada at a rave? In fact if they were played at at any sort of party I'd leave.

Whoever suggested Aphex Twin is mad too, it's way to dark.

Honestly, TS, listen to my suggestions.

Clearly also an idiot. Ever heard of bangface raves? They are not dark in the slightest and they feature prettty much exclusively breakcore, IDM and all other slight variations.

Why's that?

I think you are an idiot because that is a typical choice for an ignorant person who knows nothing about true electronic music, and questions others when their choices are clearly more informed.

Cascada is music for a 13 year old girls party and Scooter is generic hardcore with some foreigner shouting in a bad english accent.

And Rihanna? No comment.

yeah it is, you don't don't want dark, heavy aggressive music at a rave. and my second argument is actually true.

Jesus, if you're having a rave people aren't going to be interested in whether or not the DJ knows anything about "true electronic music", what you need to go for is popular stuff that'll get them going. Beats is what you need.

And you really can't say anything about what I know and what I don't know about music, since we've never met, nor have we ever conversed.

uhh yes they will... I've been going to raves for about 10 years, I've seen DJs get kicked out for playing crap several times.

umm no, I go to raves where people actualy want good music instead of just a drugged out orgy (I mean that happens too, but people still care about having it to good tunes instead of watered down bullshit)

No, i can't, but those are typical of someone who just picks up whatevers big at the moment.

I'm going to ignore the beats is what you need comment, that is just ridiculous. Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom (found in scooter and cascada) is not beats, and although appropriate at a rave, there is a ton of music that makes better use of it than mainstream happy hardcore shit.

Yeah, thats right. I dropped the s bomb.

No, you're an idiot for making a comment like that, when you quite clearly have not heard a majority of Aphex Twins songs, many of which are not dark in the slightest.

Ok, maybe you're not an idiot, just a bit of a generaliser.

Jeesus, chill out. So if I haven't heard every Aphex Twin song I can't say I'm not a big fan? Is it unreasonable for me to say I don't like Cannibal Corpse even though I've never listened to more than one of their songs?

Everyone likes a nice argument from time to time, but there's no point arguing for the sake of it
