I have been debating whether to change the Gain and Master pot on the Blues Junior from linear to log. How does it affect the adjustment (especially since we are dealing mor ethan simply volume, but also the reamp and power amp drive)
Ibanez SA-120 (ed.2006)
BluesJr 1996-B + cathode follower + texas Heat

Homemade 4 x 10 cab Bass closeback

Wouldn't the master volume already be log? Also, if you change the gain from linear to log, it means all of the audible gain difference would be in the last quarter of the turn or so.
Haven't you heard?

It's a battle of words
Log pots have more effect in the later stages of rotation so replacing the gain (if it's Lin) with Log would probably be a bad idea. It would have minimal effect throughout it's travel until the last 1/3 or so, better off Lin.

Like Kentris.5 said, I would've thought your volume would already be Log.
Yea most of the time the vol pot will be audio or log. And the gain will be linear. You want the gain to be linear so its not all at 1 end of the knob it will be a smooth transition this way.
