Hey all,
I've got arround 400 pounds to spend on an amp head to drive my marshall 4x12" cab with greenbacks, like a funk/rock kinda tone like frusciante/hendrix, but with industrial lead, advise?

I think Peavey Windsor heads are in your range. Altho I think a Marshall of some sort would be better, in which case you'd hav to buy used.

Not really, if you're using high quality pots and pickups, it should clean up just fine. Guitar potentiometers don't have a linear taper. But I mean, if you're using a super hot humbucker like a SD Invader or turning the gain up to 1000 or something, then no, it's not going to clean up particularly well, but for classic rock/hard rock tones should be just fine.

yeah I recommend the Windsor too, great sounding amps for a killer price.
