and im genuinely stuck for what to get.

I've had my Strat with no name for as long as ive been playing guitar, and i know it's gunna hurt to get rid of it, i MIGHT keep it, but anyway

im going to save up (probably about 600 quid) and get a new guitar -reccomendations?

i play Beatles, Led Zep etc, plus my own stuff, which usually has acoustics behind me, but im also branching out into (hopefully) more pop-punkier stuff

and abviously i dont want to have 2 guitars for separate bands

atm, im thinking about http://www.reverb-store.co.uk/product-detail.asp?prod=1895

I totally agree. Just go to a music shop, the people that work there are often very helpful. Often they'll ask you what sort of music you play, and then recommend something.

I think it would be a good buy for you, Epiphone Les Paul's (standard upwards) are pretty good guitars, with only few instances with someone complaining about quality control.
The piezo pickup will definately be use with the acoustic stuff you play.

Try one out first though.

That's a damn nice LP, it'll put up well with whatever you want to do. However, definitely go to a local shop and try a few different brands out. For your style I recommend trying out some Mexican Fenders, Epiphones and Vintages (don't be fooled by the low prices, they're really nice).

What amp do you have by the way?

Instead of buying an epi lp look around and see if you can find a used Gibson, it might cost a little more but it will be worth it.

You should just keep the guitar, if it's your first you HAVE to keep it lol, I still have all my old guitars, you probably won't get anything for it anyway.

Remember that pictures you see on the net are manipulated to look a lot better.. so the guitar you see at a webpage will never look the same in real life.

I personally recommend a mexican made Fender, they are very good for the price, you maybe able to get them for like 600 or 700.

Best advice is: go to a shop, try it out, try other guitars, go home, think about it, go try it again, think more, then maybe buy it.

remember that when it comes to guitars, the price is not proportional with the quality of a guitar, anything above 700, half the price is for the name writen on the headstock. every known quality brand, has made some **** guitars, so don't be fooled by that, also staff at shops may be payed by how much they sell, and that there time is money.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.
