why is it that you posted this in the e.g. forum? it has nothing to do with guitars...

Amps actually do have something to do with guitars...

^very good point

But to answer your question:
When an SS amp has something wrong with it, you get a new one
When a tube amp has something wrong with it, you take it to a tech and get it fixed.

There are plenty of amp threads in here. Shut the fuck up.

Provided it doesn't break or anything, I believe SS amps actually last quite a bit longer than tubes. Not as easy to repair, though.

Exactly. Transistor fries, your screwed unless your an electronic engineer. Tube blows, get another tube and stick it in there.

SS amps are big computer chips that produce sound. Your computer is a big box full of computer chips that processes information. Your computer slows down and turns into crap as it ages, right? Well the same theory goes with SS amps, and when they go out, just like a computer, there really isn't a cheap fix.

Tube amps are really more like a car. If something goes wrong, you just replace the broken part with a new one. If you blow out a tube, you replace it with a new one. Problem solved, and much cheaper than buying a new amp.

EDIT: Oh, and even though there are other amp threads in here, this really should have gone in GG&A, just like all of the other amp threads.

There's an forum for amps and gear....

+1

I think it needs to be made more clear where threads about amps belong. Amp threads should be in one place not two. I don't really care if they all go in electric guitar, or in guitar gear and accessories, but I don't think they should be in both places. And I think the amp threads are meant to be in guitar gear and accessories.

I'm going to report this thread because the threadstarter has created an identical thread to this one in guitar gear and accessories.

... wrong. software gets bigger and better and your computer stays the same. also every time you visit that animal porn site it fills your computer with crap diallers and adware stuff and that slows your computer down too... all you need to do is reload windows (or linux or whatever) and its back to scratch.

next, when a computer breaks down you go to pc world and buy the part that broke for not very much money and "robert is your mothers brother", its as good as new.

choose a better analogy please.
Thank you please.

yeah, very familiar...like when the guy originally posted it!

haha sorry man, i had to. And it also depends on the individual amps, cause a well made SS amp might last longer than a ****e tube amp...
