I have a Marshall MG100DFX, and I've really been looking at tube amps. I noticed the Peavey Vypyr Tube 120, and it looks pretty nice. Would it be an improvement over the MG? I also like the tons of features the Vypyr's got. Does the sound of the tubes really shine? The MG was a gift.

Forget genres, the real conflict is in the subgenres.

With the gear you have (the lonestar especially) I'd heartily reccomend an upgrade as soon as possible. The MG will not be doing any of your kit justice.

If you want a "jack of all trades" amp, the vampyr has been getting some good reviews, however if you want to specialise in a certain area, knuckle down, sav eup, and research like a mofo. If you want all kinds of tone but want to do it well, grab a Guitar Rig 3 Kontrol edition and some nice monitors/headphones and jam away, but this'll prevent you gigging (unless you bring your laptop and hook it to the PA).

I'm not really into any kind of modelling software.

The Vypyr isn't a true tube amp, it only has a Tube power section and it's modeling, but yes it will be a huge improvement over the MG.

I was also lookin at the ValveKing 212 (cuz it's all tube, unlike the Vypyr), but it doesn't have things such as the usb port and effects.

No non modeling Tube Amp is going to have a USB Port or Effects apart from reverb. That's what pedals and a recording interface are for.
