I currently play with a Squier begginers pack. I have been for about 2 years and decided its time for a change. I want a new guitar and a new amp. I like to play alot of Guns N Roses and Metallica. I will have about $1700 to spend on both a guitar and an amp. The other thing is, I live in Australia and you have to consider the exchange rate down here. Everything is so expensive.

So could you please suggest me some ideas on guitar's and amps?

I don't know the exchange rate for AUS to USD, but i'd suggest something with humbuckers, made of mahogany, with a TOM bridge. So lets say, a LP style guitar, through a good Marshall voiced amp, like maybe a Traynor.

Incase you didn't get that, a Epiphone, or Gibson, or possibly ESP LP styled guitar, through maybe a Traynor YCV40, or a Crate V30.

Can't say i have experience with these, but looking at reviews, they look good, and the JB/59 in the C-1, are supposed to be very versatile

I love it because in every "what guitar?" thread Lethal posts in,he always says Ibanez

And I agree,Ibanez or Schecter would be a good choice since you can get a good guitar without it costing you an arm and a leg.You can probably find a nice used tube amp for a good price if you look around too.

for a senond rig, $1700 could get you something awesome, even though we have br00tal prices over here. Ibanez sounds pretty good, look into some fo those, but also check out some more expensive epiphones because they are very versitile.

Here are a couple of amps to check out. Go plug into them and test them see which one floats your boat

as for guitars, just go to Allans / Billy Hydes / Music City / Venue Music / Turra Music / etc and pull down every guitar you like the look of and play it until you find your guitar.

In the end play as many guitars as you can through as many amps as you can because no amount of advice here is going to be anywhere near as good as spending the time to test gear out.

I'd recommend a Jackson, Ibanez or Schecter.

Was looking on spending something around, 600 dollars on an amp and 1200 dollars on a guitar. Cause I was looking at the Epiphone LP Ultra.

Would there be any good tube amps under 600 dollars new in Australia?

Personally, I think you'll get WAY more bang for the buck by upping the amount on the amp and dropping the amount on the guitar a bit.

For a $600 budget you're probably going to have to either go for a solid state amp or 5 watt valve combo

The Crate V18 will cost you around $900 and still get an amazing guitar with the other $900.
