I've used Guitar Rig 2 for a looong time. Years ago it was the best VSTi for guitars.

But compared to the amps it's modeled after? There's really no contest. Actually, even hardware sound processors such as the POD series (which I'm quite fond of) are much better than any computer modeling software.

I prefer the real things because they sound better, IMO-- and I prefer the way the real things sound, feel and operate in a live setting more than I do a software based approach.

The guitar rig 3 stuff is a killer tool, but given the choice between that and the real thing... there is no comparison for me.
