for christmas my parents bought me this drum set

and anticipating some birthday cash and some I've already saved up I've been looking at these drum heads, problem is I have no clue what size I'm supposed to go by for resonant/batter heads, for example my bass drum is 22" x 18", what size batter and resonant head would I need to fit that?

hmmmm....well it depends on what style you're playing in my opinion. Your best bet is just to go down to your local music store, buy the drum heads, and ask a worker there what they would recommend you to get. Make sure you ask somebody who primarily works with drums though.

I'm not asking about the sound, I'm asking what size heads I need to buy so they fit properly on my drums, if you go the first link it shows the size of the toms and such like 13" x 10" tom, and when you look at heads it lists one size, I want to know whether I need to buy 13" tom head or a 10" tom head to fit that drum.

We have a drum forum?

MONKIT:

TS, just measure the size of your drums Rim to Rim.
It's probably the first number in your measurements.
And if it turns out what you get doesn't fit, take them back.

LOL.

If your bass drum is 22"x18" you need to buy a 22" head, as that's how big the head is.

It actually says the measurements there...also you could have used a tape-measure...

edit: The snare will most likely be 14"

edit2: also nice first kit, if you had asked I would have recomended a Mapex kit, also Remo heads.

Apparently a senior at my school told a Freshman there was one upstairs in a section where there was no upstairs. But there was a ladder, the kid went up, and they took the ladder down. lol.

ok so the head is 22", what does the 18" represent? Sorry if these are dumb questions I have no prior experience with drums.

EDIT: Gah, answered while I was typing, thanks for making me look dumb

The 22 inches is the depth, silly. He needs 18 inch heads. Also, there isn't really a point in replacing your resonant head.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm an idiot.

Oh i see what you're saying. Just buy heads that are the exact dimensions of your drums, so in this case, 10.

Err...the depth maybe?

Maybe it is...my bass drum is 22", possible comfusion. On second thoughts you are probably right.

And I agree about resonant heads, don't change them 'till you have to.

God damn it, we don't have a drum forum!
That's just like the pit to take advantage of the fact that I'm a drummer by making me believe that.

alrighty, just making sure I got this.

I have: 22" x 18" bass drum, 10" x 8" tom, 12" x 9" rack tom, 13" x 10" rack tom, 16" x 16" floor tom, 5-1/2" x 14" snare. I want to get 22" bass head, 10", 12", 13", 16" tom heads, and a 14" snare head, correct?

Check the bass head with a tape measure but the rest seem fine.

Idiots.

Look. There is no drum forum. The mods don't want one.

So people say "this is the drum forum" to that link. WHAT IS ON THAT VIDEO?

Can I spell it out any clearer?
